Family Fun Vacations at PGA National
At PGA National Resort & Spa we’ve noticed a thing or two about our smaller guests -- every kid doesn’t necessarily like the same activities. That’s why this Florida family resort has activities and diversions to suit various ages and interests, including multi-generational vacations. We hope you’ll dig in to read more, because we get it...not every kid loves golf.
However, they all love having fun.
Ask about our PGA National family getaway special offers:
Pools and Outdoor Activities
Our stunning zero entry pool has a gradual decline into the shallow end, so you can let the kids kick their heels as you kick back with a piña colada under the dappled shade of a giant palm tree. Poolside service and bar access deliver the perfect pampered experience at this manmade tropical oasis where carefree hours just fly lazily by.
Treat the whole family to a fully furnished poolside cabana with sectional sofa, television, ceiling fan and mini fridge. A kids splash pool with playful fountains and an outdoor jacuzzi has panoramic views of the golf course, lakes and ornamental fountains in the distance.
Kids love our Wave Bar & Grill adjacent to poolside. It’s nothing but fun for casual
finger foods, shakes, and sweets, and live music, too.
At PGA National Resort & Spa, older kids and teens can enjoy the freedom of exploring within the resort’s secure landscaped gardens. They might join a children’s yoga class, get their juices flowing with basketball or lakeside beach volleyball, settle into a low key lawn croquet game, rent bikes to peddle on-site trails, or hit the ball at our golf driving range. Supervised kids’ club and in-room child care are available on request.
Golf and Tennis for the Younger Set
It’s not every golf course, championship or not, that’s got a snarling seven-foot-tall, 700-pound bear statue adorning its entrance. Once the children snap a selfie and learn the story of the PGA Bear Trap, they can head for the junior golf clinic where tiered level classes with great PGA certified instructors are fun, active, and educational.
Tennis, anyone? PGA National Resort Racquet Club is among Florida’s best tennis resorts. Junior (ages 7-15) individual and group lessons are daily or weekly on 19 tennis courts. We’ve got a sweet spot as home to the new Johan Kriek Tennis Academy, an elite tennis academy run by a two-time Australian Open champion and former world number 7.
Golf and Tennis Summer Camps
Two magic words say it all: Summer Camp.
Right here at PGA National, the David Leadbetter Golf Academy (LGA) runs a five-day program for young golfing enthusiasts to benefit from David’s internationally recognized signature holistic approach. Ranging from ages 7 to 17, young golfer groups are separated according to age and ability, designed for everyone from beginner on up.
On our high quality Har-Tru clay courts, little ones from the age of 3 to 6 can get started with a pint-sized tennis racket in hand. Junior beginner tennis clinics are for ages 7 to 15 and an Elite summer tennis camp for more serious pre-teen and teen players runs weekly Monday through Saturday.
We aim for excellence coupled with enjoyment. We’re proud to host The Honda Classic on The Championship course, attracting legendary golfers to PGA National every spring. In December, we host the "Little Mo" International Junior Championships, when 250 promising players ages 12-and-under represent 35 countries competing in a great event.
Palm Beach and the Beaches
Are you considering exploring off-resort for the day? You needn’t travel very far at all. There are plenty of things to do and fun to be had at the beaches and beyond, all within less than a half hour drive from PGA National Resort & Spa. Get an early start for some amazing South Florida eco-tours and attractions within easy range.
Discover five completely different Florida beach day experiences within a 20 minutes from PGA National’s front door -- and a historic lighthouse, too. Children and adults are equally keen to see the Loggerhead sea turtle nesting beaches and barrier island sanctuary where 50-foot saltwater sprays pound the rocks. Go for intracoastal waterway paddling, boating and kayaking, water sports on Singer Island, catch a live concert at an outdoor amphitheater, or head for Atlantic Ocean pier fishing, surfing, snorkeling, swimming, and playing footsie with the waves on white sand at Juno Beach. For a vertical hike, it’s 105 steps to the top of pink-colored Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum built all the way back in 1860.
More water fun? Grab a swimsuit. It’s only 14 minutes’ drive to Rapids Water Park where 42 of the biggest, wettest, most thrilling water slides and attractions will keep everyone feeling cool.
Every day is “Summer in Paradise” in Downtown West Palm Beach all summer long from June 1 through August 31. Play nine holes of glow-in-the-dark mini golf, see a free outdoor movie, take in a BBQ, blues band and a good old fashioned fireworks display.
Catering to every child’s love of animals, Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society is home to more than 500 animals on 23 shaded tropical acres. Get up close and personal with marine life and butterflies at South Florida Science Center and Aquarium in West Palm Beach. An 18-hole miniature golf course is built inside a butterfly garden where they daintily land on you as you try to land your shot.
More time for animals? Large natives such as alligators, armadillos, great blue herons, red shouldered hawks, bald eagles, wild turkeys, white-tailed deer, snowy egrets, woodpeckers, and great horned owls hang out at the wetlands known as Grassy Waters Preserve. In just 10 minutes from PGA National, you’ll be hiking along the boardwalk to experience a true-life outdoor classroom that’s like a slice of the Everglades right in West Palm Beach.
